SEO that serves: A content strategy built for SaaS growth

Written by:

SEO for SaaS isn’t about ranking for high-volume terms. It’s about building visibility over time with content that solves real problems.

If your GTM strategy stops at paid channels, you’re missing:

  • Compound traffic growth from content
  • Higher intent leads from search
  • Long-term authority in your niche

You don’t need 100 blog posts — just the right 15–20 with purpose.

Build around real problems, not just keywords

Too many SEO strategies start with tools, not people.

Instead, start by answering:

  • What questions does your ICP Google before trying a product like yours?
  • What blockers do they face at each stage of their journey?
  • Where can your product be a part of the solution?

Use keyword research only after mapping these needs.

Create a content cluster strategy

Organize your SEO content into clusters to guide search engines — and readers.

For Taskly, I used 3 clusters:

1. Productivity and async work (TOFU – Top of Funnel)

  • How to manage async teams
  • Daily standup alternatives
  • Best productivity systems for teams

2. Task automation and workflow tools (MOFU – Middle of Funnel)

  • Best Zapier alternatives for task automation
  • How to reduce follow-up messages
  • Guide: Setting up simple workflows without code

3. Tool comparisons and use cases (BOFU – Bottom of Funnel)

  • Taskly vs Asana
  • Trello alternatives for fast-moving teams
  • How Taskly fits into remote operations

Each post links to others in the same cluster, building authority and engagement.

Plan your blog calendar with intent

A calendar isn’t just for organization — it’s for prioritization.

Here’s how I planned Taskly’s:

  • 2 posts per month (1 TOFU, 1 MOFU/BOFU)
  • Each post optimized for one primary keyword + internal links
  • Align each post with a lead magnet or product CTA

Example: A TOFU post on async standups links to a Taskly template + free trial CTA.

How I built Taskly’s SEO foundation

SEO isn’t about ranking in isolation. For Taskly, I tied each post to a business goal:

  • Drive traffic to the free trial
  • Educate new visitors on use cases
  • Improve product visibility for comparison searches

It’s not about “more content.” It’s about strategic content that earns trust and drives action.

Sidebar: Key takeaways

  • Build content around real questions, not just keywords
  • Use TOFU, MOFU, BOFU clusters for structure
  • Link posts internally to guide readers and boost SEO
  • Align blog topics with product CTAs and business goals
  • Keep your calendar lean, focused, and tied to outcomes
